Welcome to Stockton Learning and Skills Service

This years prospectus is full of opportunities to develop your skills, meet new people, get a new job, improve your health and wellbeing, start volunteering or set up your own business. Whatever your situation we have a range of courses which may help you.

We have worked hard to ensure that our learning venues are a safe environment for you to learn in and we are excited to open our centres to more learners now that restrictions are being lifted.

Although our doors had to close during lockdown last year, many of our learners continued with their studies online in new and innovative ways. These courses were so successful that we have increased the range of our online offer and adapted some of the courses that would traditionally be delivered in the classroom to include some distance learning that you can do in a place and time convenient for you.

Classroom based courses will continue to be a high priority for us and we are committed to offering a safe learning environment for our learners and staff so you can be reassured that our learning venues will meet government and health and safety requirements.

Sue Connor has been attending Stockton Learning and Skills Service for the past 18 months, studying for her Functional Skills certificate alongside working towards her NVQ in Health and Social Care.

Sue admits that before starting the course she wasn’t a confident learner and was apprehensive about starting. Sue explains: “It was very strange being in a classroom after all these years.

Studying at Stockton Learning and Skills however didn’t feel like being back at school. There was no peer pressure and the tutor provided a relaxed and friendly atmosphere I could learn in.

With great guidance and patience from my tutor, I have eventually passed both my Maths and English Functional Skills. This has now helped me not only at work but also in my private life too.”
