Stockton Learning and Skills Service is committed to helping learners realise their full potential, strengthening our communities, and promoting fairness. We are dedicated to providing a service that embraces diversity and upholds equality of opportunity for all.
The Equality Act 2010 protects individuals from discrimination and applies directly to education and training providers. This legislation ensures that learners are not treated unfairly based on protected characteristics, including age, race, disability, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, and gender reassignment. It also supports the safeguarding of vulnerable individuals by ensuring they receive an excellent standard of education and training.
As a provider, we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of individuals, ensuring that every learner can access and benefit from our provision.
Stockton Learning and Skills Service will:
- Provide a learning environment where harassment and bullying are actively challenged.
- Minimise barriers faced by individuals who are using our buildings and facilities.
- Consult with all sections of the community to understand both current and future needs.
- Produce information about our service in relevant formats, including other languages, large print, audio, and Braille, when required.
- Promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different backgrounds, faiths, and beliefs.
- Seek to remove barriers to equality of opportunity and eliminate unfair and unlawful discrimination.
- Recognise that all learners may, at times, require specific support and encouragement to help them reach their full potential.
Our goal is to ensure that these commitments are embedded in the day-to-day working practices of all learners, staff, customers, colleagues, and partners.
